Audio Research and Documentation

Researching the sounds of Lake Nipissing and surrounding bodies of Water, Eddie Jeanveau, Edgardo Moreno and Clayton Windatt explore the context of water, ice and transformation. “Nisidotan” or “Understand by Hearing” is the response to the theme of Ojichaagobiishin for Ice Follies 2016. In the creation of Nisidotan, our team of audio technicians have begun documenting the sounds of Lake Nipissing.

The sounds under the ice as it shifts and cracks, the noise of walking across its surface as it breaks under the weight of a footstep, the sounds of the air, wind, water and everything that gives the lake its personality. This all gives an organic voice to water.
